Tax file number
To be eligible to obtain a job in Australia, you will need your national Tax File Number. A Tax file number, or TFN, is a unique number given to you by the Australian Taxation Office. It is similar to an identity number. Everyone who works in Australia needs a Tax file number.
Australian business number
Did you know, that some jobs in Australia require you to work as a contractor? To work as a contractor, or to operate your own business. You will need to apply for an Australian Business Number or ABN.
An ABN is a unique number that all contractors and businesses in Australia must have to operate within Australia. Sometimes in Australia, it is actually easier to get certain jobs if you have an ABN and have the ability to work as a contractor.

Superannuation fund
Every employee in Australia MUST have a superannuation fund. A superannuation fund is a retirement fund that your employer will put 10% of your wage into every time you are paid.
When you leave Australia at the end of your visa, you are entitled to claim the money from your superannuation fund, and take it home! Unfortunately, a lot of visa holders are not made aware of this, and lose this money forever.
Australian bank account
Don’t forget you will also need an Australian bank account for your employer to deposit your wages. This is necessary in order to avoid extra taxes on your wage. Have you organised one yet?
