About Joel
While other kids at school were playing cricket and dreaming of being the next Shane Warne, Joel was reading business books and dreaming of being the next Kerry Packer.
His first business began at the tender age of 7, selling Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle trading cards in the playground. After making an impressive $3.50 (impressive for a second-grader of the ’90s) he swiftly landed lunch-time detention and learned his first humbling lesson. Business is HARD!
But, undeterred, he continued to dream of one day working with like-minded business-savvy souls. Fast-forward a few years to 2004, Joel attained a Bachelor of Business, majoring in accounting, from Griffith University.
About Yoka
On the other side of the world, in the quaint European country of Belgium, a young Yoka grew up listening to the Aussie twang of Neighbours and The Flying Doctors. This fuelled her fascination with the Red Continent. But not just Australia. Yoka loves to study cultures and languages from around the globe.
It was on a weekend trip to Paris (to study cultural cuisine that the Parisians call Fromage!) that she met an outgoing, like minded soul from Australia named Joel! They were soon married on the sandy shores of Broadbeach in the Land Down-Under.
Prior to this, Yoka conscientiously completed her studies in economics and attained her MBA from Gent University in 2002. She has spent 20 years working in Business and Human Resources, 10 of these in Australia.
Her passion for studying culture, combined with her international business experience, enables Yoka to see business management through a multi-national lens and combine the best of different cultures for ultimate business success.
About Team
Combining our forces, we have built a wealth of experience in the world of Business. Our many ventures include everything from manufacturing and wholesale
(hello, chocolate-coated frozen bananas!), to café ownership, online retailing, managing a multimillion dollar mining company, HR and accounting.
Together we’ve learned that business ownership has many challenges and triumphs. But we’ve also learned that business is easier when you have a
like-minded team of people you can lean on.
Our biggest lesson came in 2019 with the birth of our beautiful daughter, Lily Rose. And that lesson is this: Time is so precious!
